KALAPATTHAR AND EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK
The entire trip was amazing. Although we opted to go alone, Gurkha Encounters was helpful with our transportation, visas for India and most importantly feeling confortable with our plans. Definitely looking forward to a bigger/ longer trip in the future. Thanks!
I completed the Kalapattha (5,545 m) and Everest Base Camp (5,350 m) with the help of my guide Rishi. I wouldn’t have been able to complete the trek without him! Rishi was not just a guide, he was a very kind friend to me. I’ll never forget him nor will I ever forget Gurkha Encounters, for their kind hospitality. Kevin
To Kalapatthar & EBC. Really enjoyed ourselves, scenery, people + culture outstanding, very glad to have had a guide to help us overcome any minor difficulties + take care of general wll being. Some of the accommodations was basic but to be expected when areas are was so remote. Only cause for concern was there was no first aid provision which we had expected. Fortunately found out before we needed to rely on it. Many thanks + hope to return sometime soon. Take care. 12/10/08
“On the high yak & yeti trail towards the giant peaks of Khumbu.”
The Everest region is one of the most popular and spectacular destinations in Nepal, for trekkers and mountaineers alike. It offers a fascinating and enjoyable environment. This trek begins with a scenic flight to Lukla. It passes through many traditional farming villages, with beautiful views of the highest snow-capped peaks in the world, and continues on to Kalapatthar, the highest point of the trek, for a breathtaking panorama of peaks and glaciers, including Mt. Everest, which seems only a stone’s throw away. The Everest Base Camp itinerary is set to be flexible, enabling you to enjoy and immerse yourself in the magnificent natural surroundings. The trip includes all the highlights of Sagarmatha National Park, including Namche Bazaar, Khumbu, which is the Sherpa capital, an unmatched view from Kalapatthar (5,545 m.), and the ever-exciting Everest Base Camp, which is an extraordinary viewpoint for Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse. This trek gives ample time and opportunity to visit Buddhist monasteries, both at Khumjung, one of the oldest in the area, and at Thyangboche, one of the newest, as it was rebuilt after being burned to the ground.
