This trek gifts you with a great variety of Bhutanese landscapes and is without doubt one of the most beautiful and unspoilt trekking areas in the entire Himalaya. The trek begins at Drukgyal Dzong passing through beautiful villages, scattered hamlets and farmland. Different vegetation from richly forested valley to high alpine pastureland where Yak herders graze their animals. Trout fishing in the sky blue lake with magnificent view of three majestic peaks. One will also encounter rare species like the Bahrain or blue sheep & Snow Leopard.

Itinerary

Day 01:       Meet upon arrival at Kathmandu airport by Gurkha Encounters Kathmandu representative and transfer to hotel. After getting refreshed, and having lunch, proceed for walking tour to Kathmandu Durbar Square visiting, ancient palace, living goddess temple Kumari temple, Hanuman Dhoka and Kastamandap temple. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02:       Proceed on sight seeing tour to Swoyambhunath stupa also known as the Monkey Temple, Patan city known as The City of Fine Arts, Pashupatinath temple the holiest shrine of the Hindu people and Boudhnath stupa. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03:       Transfer to the International airport for flight to Paro. You will be met at Paro airport by the representative of our Bhutanese counterpart and transfer to the hotel in Paro. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 04:       Commence sight seeing tour in Paro. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 05:       To acclimatize yourself, a hike to Taktsang monastery also known as Tiger's den, which will take about 2 - 3 hours (3000 M). Lunch will be served at the cafeteria. Stroll back to the resort in Paro. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 06:       Trek from Shana to Soi Thangthangka. About 24 kms and takes about 8 - 9 hours walk. Overnight at tented camp (3800 M).

Day 07:       Trek to Jangothang about 12 kms. Around 4 - 5 hours walk. Overnight at tented camp (4050 M)

Day 08:       Rest day at Jangothang. Optional excursion around the area or fishing or relax. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 09:       Trek to Lingshi about 18 kms. Around 7 - 8 hours walk. During the trek climb over Nyele La pass (4700 M). Overnight at tented camp (4100 M).

Day 10:       Trek to Shodu about 20 kms. Around 8 - 9 hours walk. During trek climb over Yale La pass (4900 M). Overnight at tented camp (3750 M).

Day 11:       Trek to Barshong about 17 kms. Around 6 - 7 hours walk. Overnight at tented camp (3500 M).

Day 12:       Trek to Dodena about 20 kms. Around 7 - 8 hours walk. From Dodena, drive towards Thimpu (about one hour drive). Overnight at the hotel in Thimpu.

Day 13:       AM: Commence sight seeing tour in Thimpu visiting Memorial Chorten, Changankha Lhakhang, Drupthop Nunnery, Royal Goldsmith's workshop and vegetable market. PM: Drive to Paro which takes about 2 hours drive and en route visit to Simtokha Dzong the oldest in the Kingdom. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 14:       Transfer to the airport in Paro for flight to Kathmandu. You will be met on arrival by Gurkha Encounters Kathmandu airport by GE Kathmandu representative and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day will be at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 15:       AM: drive to Bhaktapur also known as The City of Devotees for sight seeing tour. Lunch in Bhaktapur and later drive back to Kathmandu. PM: Free for last moment's shopping. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 16:       Free till departure and later transfer to the International airport for home bound flight.
