BUNGY JUMP IN NEPAL
![]()
Nepal offers some of the most spectacular bungy jumping in the world. This fantastic jump is one of the worlds longest and most picturesque. Located on a bridge over the Bhote Koshi River just 12 kms south of Tibet and the famous Friendship Bridge. At 160 meters, the drop is only comparable to the world's highest bungy in New Zealand. The recently introduced option of the swinging bungy jump is fast becoming another popular, albeit less intense, option.
Who operates Bungy and Swing jumping in Nepal?
Gurkha Encounters work together with The Last Resort which operates ‘Bungee Nepal’ The Last Resort is located 12 km from the Tibetan Border in Nepal. Bungy Nepal was set up by David Allerdice and Bishnu Neopane. Together they scouted the area for a long time to find the perfect location for the activity. The suspension bridge, 166 meter long and 160 meter high was finally built and the first jump took place in 1999. The jump site in Nepal was designed in 1999 by one of New Zealand's leading Bungy consultants and has been staffed and operated by some of the most experienced Western and Nepalese Jump Masters in the business, working to exacting international standards to guarantee your safety
The company has 50 staff members, the majority of whom come from the local area. They were trained by international experts and together run two offices, one resort, the bungy and swing operation, canyoning and hiking.
Before the bridge construction, the local villagers had to walk five hours to cross the river gorge. The building of the bridge has had a positive impact on the development of the local economy and infrastructure.

The anchoring and cable structure of the Canyon Swing were designed by Nepalese Engineers with more than 15 years of experience in bridge construction, using Swiss Technology for design and manufactured by Radha Engineering (an ISO 9000 certified Engineering Company in Nepal). Bungy Nepal and Canyon Swing takes place on a 166 meter wide steel suspension bridge. Swiss designed the bridge specially for bungy jumping with a 4x safety factor, the bridge has a loading factor of 250 kg per running meter.
All this means that the bridge will hold 41,500 kg or 41.5 tonnes. And... those are Swiss measurements! Over 6000 meters of steel wire was used to build the bridge that joins two sides of a beautiful valley
